Our Mission
To train and deploy competent biomedical engineers who repair, calibrate, service, install and standardize medical equipment in low-resource health facilities, while building local capacity among health workers.
Our Vision
A Uganda where every health facility has functional medical equipment and skilled personnel to maintain it.
Our Story
Train Biomedics Initiative Uganda Ltd. was founded in 2024 in response to a persistent challenge across Western Uganda: many health facilities had medical equipment that was broken, poorly maintained or left unused because the technical support needed to restore it was not readily available.
We saw an opportunity to connect biomedical engineering knowledge with the practical needs of hospitals. Our training-to-placement model, the Incubator Program, gives emerging engineers meaningful hands-on experience in real health facilities. Working alongside hospital teams, they learn to assess equipment, troubleshoot faults, carry out repairs, support installations and strengthen everyday maintenance practices.
This approach turns theory into real impact on the ground. Each placement helps an engineer grow in confidence while helping a facility improve equipment uptime, support its health workers and protect the quality of patient care. It is a shared learning process shaped by the realities of hospitals and the people who depend on them.
Our long-term goal is a Uganda where every health facility has functional medical equipment and skilled biomedical personnel who can maintain it. By investing in people, practical tools and lasting partnerships, we are building the local capacity needed for stronger, more resilient health systems.
